About the Governing Board
The Governing Board of the Union School sets policy for the school, and makes sure that the school is fulfilling its mission. The board consists of parents, teachers, union representatives, Simmons College representatives, and community members. Board members serve two-year terms, and teacher and parent members are elected by the faculty and the parents of the school. The Governing Board meets monthly, and all are welcome to attend. The Governing Board also has committees, including a fundraising committee which needs members with grant-writing experience.
In October of 2012, the BTU Family Council re-elected Beth Chandler and Carolyn Shannon to two year terms, and elected new BTU family members, Justeen Hyde and Annie Spitz, who will share a one year term.
Governing Board Meetings
All BTU family members are welcome to attend Governing Board meetings. Meetings for the 2015 – 2016 school year are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 6pm. Meetings are held in the 5th grade classroom.
