About the Governing Board
The Governing Board of the Union School sets policy for the school, and makes sure that the school is fulfilling its mission. The board consists of parents, teachers, union representatives, Simmons College representatives, and community members. Board members serve two-year terms, and teacher and parent members are elected by the faculty and the parents of the school. The Governing Board meets monthly, and all are welcome to attend. The Governing Board also has committees, including a fundraising committee which needs members with grant-writing experience. If you are interested in serving on the board or the fundraising committee, please speak with Berta Rosa Berriz, Betsy Drian, or with parent members Sonia Caus Gleason or Carolyn Shannon.
In October of 2012, the BTU Family Council re-elected Beth Chandler and Carolyn Shannon to two year terms, and elected new BTU family members, Justeen Hyde and Annie Spitz, who will share a one year term.
Governing Board Meetings
All BTU family members are welcome to attend Governing Board meetings. Meetings for the 2012 – 2013 school year are held on the second Monday of each month at 6pm.
